THE FOUNDING OF RAYMOND WEIL
The Raymond Weil company was founded in 1976, in the middle of a watch industry crisis, when Mr. Raymond Weil decided to found his company to realize what he believed should be the Swiss watch industry and to bring a new impulse to the branch.
The creations of the brand were very quickly appreciated by both watch lovers and connoisseurs. After having established himself in the country, the founder of RAYMOND WEIL tried his hand at the European market before setting out to conquer the world to establish a solid international network. Today, in 2022, RAYMOND WEIL is an internationally recognized brand and one of the flagships of the Swiss watch industry.
Forging an identity
After several years of rapid growth, the company needed to expand and increase its competitiveness in the high-end watchmaking sector. In order to achieve his goals, Olivier Bernheim, the son-in-law of the founder Mr. Weil, joined the company in 1982, making it a family business. After his arrival in the company, he took on the task of modernizing the company, developing the markets and also took over the marketing and communication department. His arrival reinforced the idea of an independent family business dear to Raymond Weil. Olivier Bernheim became the President and CEO in 1996.
The collections
Raymond Weil has always been strongly influenced by music, and the names of the first collections reflect this passion: the Amadeus, Fidelio, Traviata and Saxo collections.
Other cult collections forged the brand's personality: Toccata, the women's collection Fantasia, and the emblematic Othello, a blend of avant-garde technology and refined design with its ultra-thin timepieces, created in 1986 to celebrate the tenth anniversary of RAYMOND WEIL.
Another important step in the development of RAYMOND WEIL was taken in the 1990s with the launch of the famous Parsifal collection, a superb blend of complications, noble materials, meticulous finishing and innovative design.
